Located at the Old Stone Bridge and on the banks of the river Danube, the listed building of the Salzstadel (salt barn) is in the heart of the city of Regensburg. At the beginning of the 17th century, it was built for the storage of salt, brought by ships along the Danube and unloaded by cranes. After extensive reconstruction in the 19th and 20th centuries, today’s Salzstadel accommodates several halls as well as the Visiting Center “Welterbe” (World Heritage) Regensburg.

Being so centrally located, and with its medieval ambience, the Salzstadel offers an ideal place for the Himalayan art treasures. The exhibits will be shown in the beautiful rooms of the Brücksaal on the first floor.
